Yesterday, 68 Red-Tailed Hawks were hosted by the 62nd Airlift Wing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA. Our monthly youth program meeting was amplified by the inaugural Aim High Inspiration Flight Program. As such, Colonel Fazenbaker and his team rolled out the red carpet and provided a base-wide tour experience, which included a 62nd AW mission briefing, air traffic control tower, maintenance, cargo processing, security police, special tactics, the base museum, passenger terminal and a planned flight on C-17A Globemaster III. Army Aviation also got involved by providing static displays of a Blackhawk and an Apache helicopter. Hat’s off to Amber Williams, Director of Staff, Maj Shay Mortensen, and the numerous airmen and soldiers that opened our eyes to the military airlift mission, the national security role of JBLM, and possible aviation-related careers.
