What an amazing meeting at Thun Field! Superb flying, great knowledge sharing, fantastic food, and fabulous fellowship are understatements. Hats off to Teen Flight, who hosted the RTH Youth Program on May 13th. They opened their hangar in a warm fashion and gave our students a glimpse of their work to build experimental aircraft. Teen Flight students provided a lesson on riveting and gave the RTH students the opportunity to practice placing fasteners in sheet metal.
The RTH academics included lessons on aircraft performance, weight & balance, and history discussion covering the legacy of Bessie Coleman. In addition, we went flying after discussing some of the fundamentals of flight and pre-flight considerations.
Now is a great time to sign up rising 6th-12th grade students for the June 23-24 RTH Aviation Experience in Vancouver, WA, and the July 21-22 RTH Aviation Day Camp in Seattle, WA. Go to www.redtailedhawksflyingclub.org and check out the drop-down options on the Services page.
