This weekend the Red-Tailed Hawks held its August meeting series. Forty-one members engage via Zoom on Friday evening and 31 participated in activities at Tacoma-Narrow Airport on Saturday. Many thanks to Djana Milton for hosting and leading the meetings. Hats off to our guest speakers! John McGauhey, EAA84, shared an interactive presentation about the Experiment Aircraft Association and opportunities for youth and career development. Quincy Milton shared his experiences as a naval officer, Microsoft executive, and private pilot to inspire to towards excellence and high achievement. The PHAK lessons covered the chapters on Airspace and Navigation. Via Zoom, Zander Hamilton shared his knowledge of Airspace. At the airport (TIW), John Frazier shared his knowledge of navigation. Before enjoying discovery flights around TIW, the students received a history lesson on Albert Ernest Forsythe, MD. Dr. Forsythe was an early pioneer in aviation and flew cross-country flights from NJ to Los Angeles (1933), Montreal, and the Caribbean (1934) with Charles Alfred “Chief” Anderson. Dr. Forsythe is honored in the naming of the New Jersey chapter of Black Pilots of America, Inc.#FlyHawks
