The RTH September meeting series was held on the 17th and 18th. Friday’s meeting was held online and the fly-in portion was held a Skagit Regional Airport. Many thanks to our hosts at Heritage Flight Museum and Cascade Aviation and much appreciation for our guest speakers Rhonda Lee, meteorologist, and 2nd Lt Matt Pulzin, USAFA 2021 graduate.
The PHAK lessons covered Weather Theory and Weather Services. Friday, Rhonda Lee discussed weather theory and the meteorology career field, and on Saturday, RTH mentors shared with a couple of dozen students available weather services from a pilot’s perspective. The students were given the opportunity to apply VFR and IFR weather requirements to notional flight plans around Puget Sound.
RTH also enjoyed a Fly Day at the Heritage Flight Museum. Not only did we receive a VIP tour, meet astronaut Bob Anders and learn about USAFA, ROTC, and USAF career opportunities, we also watched an impressive Warbirds airshow.
Now is a great time to become a member of the Red-Tailed Hawks. October is the top of the BPA membership and RTH Youth Program cycles. You can join online at www.redtailedhawksflyingclub.org/membership #FlyHawks
