The RTH February 9-10 Meeting Series is in the history books! Friday was held via Zoom and Saturday was held at the Alaska Airlines Flight Training Center, WA. It was an interactive, engaging, and fun learning experience for all. On Friday, we covered airplane flight controls and engaged in a discussion about server STEM disciplines in preparation for the NASA film “The Underground Railroad Connected to STEM”. On Saturday, we watched the film and made the connection to aviation in terms of communication, navigation, and weight & balance. Captain Ronald Limes and Flight Officer Kimberly Ford led the facility tour and shared their pilot knowledge in the process. De Marco Best allowed everyone to fly a Boeing 737 simulator. Charlie Adams led a session on aircraft systems that included presentations, exercises, and demonstrations that highlighted aspects of the electrical, powerplant, and fuel systems.
At the end, the RTH Artemis ROADS II teams engaged everyone in an exercise, demonstration, and presentation about rocket design considerations and some of the mathematics involved in testing model rocket performance. RTH is a partner in the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways.
