Microsoft provides a learning environment for 109 Red-Tailed Hawks! Today, RTH enjoyed Microsoft hospitality and partnered with the Pacific Science Center (PacSci) to not only experience an annular solar eclipse but also educate students on the orbital mechanics of Earth’s moon cycle. What a great opportunity to get youth fired up about the next Artemis ROADS challenge!
Microsoft engineers also engaged the 52 students in some of their research projects and laboratories and facilitated virtual reality experiences. The third activity was a PHAK lesson covering Introduction to Flying. RTH leaders cover the history and role of the FAA, FAA publications, aircraft type certifications, and pilot certifications.
The history lessons were provided by five students who wrote and read essays on what they believed were the most important aerospace achievements or events. The subjects ranged from the use of aluminum alloys to the invention of jet engines to the design of the Boeing 747.
The meeting ended with an aviation safety briefing by the 2023 Red-Tailed Hawks FLY cadets.
Please sponsor and attend the Future Thrust Awards on December 2nd, so we can do even more in 2024.
