August 5-7, 2022, fifteen middle school scholars experienced the inaugural Red-Tailed Hawks Aerospace Science Camp. RTH is a partner in the Northwest Earth Science Pathways (NEESP) and is hosted by the Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club, Seattle, WA.
Over the course of three action-packed days, scholars explored new scientific and engineering concepts and processes and looked at familiar things through the eyes of a scientist and engineer. Day one introduced aerospace-related STEM concepts, methods, and scientific principles and laws. Day two applied what they learned on day one to aircraft performance, progressively more difficult engineering design challenges, projectile motion, rocket stability, and orbital mechanics. Day three focused on rocketry and engineering ethics. We also had a great view of the Blue Angles demonstration!
