RTH engaged in the December 13-14 Meeting Series. Friday Zoom – Students enjoyed the Pilot Talk from Matt Halperin, who is a helicopter rated CFI. Afterwards, Ty Waller, CFI presented a lesson on the fundamentals/aerodynamics of flight largely from a fixed wing airplane perspective. Then, Mr. Halperin shared some fundamental differences in the aerodynamics of rotor-wing aircraft. Next, Jesse Hayes presented Robert Lee Curbeam, Jr. as the history lesson. “Beamer” is a former NASA astronaut (STS-85, STS-98, STS-116) and retired US Navy Captain.
Saturday at SEA – We were welcomed by the Seattle Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) support team who provided an overview their mission and tours of the facility. While waiting on their tour rotation, students covered pilot knowledge in the conference room.
