What a great weekend of aerospace learning! RTH Aviation Day Camp introduced youths to heliophysics, aerospace engineering and aviation and provided a leadership opportunity for the Red-Tailed Hawks FLY cadets. On Friday, Dr. Elizabeth MacDonald, NASA, introduced auroras and the related citizen science efforts to study auroras. Jesse Hayes presented the Tuskegee Airmen and challenged the youth to have a red-tailed mentality, and the students engaged with aerospace professionals during a career panel.
On Saturday, 54 students were invited to the Museum of Flight, WA to engage with the 11 Red-Tailed Hawks FLY cadets, learn the fundamentals of flight, experience the Aviation Learning Center, participate in a history scavenger hunt and fly with RTH pilots in general aviation airplanes.
