Red-Tailed Hawks Youth Program @ Rainier Flight Service (RFS). Dozens of students were immersed in the world of aviation this weekend. RTH May meeting series included a Friday Zoom with academics covering weight & balance and the history of LTC Michael P. Anderson, NASA astronaut. We also enjoyed the insight from a former C-130 loadmaster, Russell Jackson, SMSgt(ret).
On Saturday, a temporary flight restriction kept us on the ground, but RFS, Renton Municipal Airport, provided access to its facilities, simulators, and aircraft. The students were able to learn about aircraft performance, perform preflight inspections of airplanes, and fly Cessna simulators. Hats off to the RSF staff! They are wonderful partners in our journey to introduce youth to the world of aviation.
