Memorial Weekend was a powerful and historic weekend for Black Pilots of America (BPA) as we hosted the 50th Operation Skyhook and the installation of the inaugural class of the BPA Hall of Fame. The mayor of Pine Bluff, AR installed the inaugural class into the BPA Hall of Fame, and among them was Jesse D. Hayes, Jr. MD (1931-2000).

Dr. Hayes was the first president of the Bronze Eagles Flying Club and the co-creator of Operation Skyhook. His passion for introducing youth to aviation is memorialized by Houston’s Dr. Jesse D. Hayes, Jr, Annual Fly-In for Children, and Washington’s Dr. Jesse Hayes STEM Leadership Scholarship.

When you stop through Grider Field (PBF), check out the BPA Hall of Fame Kiosk.
