The 10th Red-Tailed Hawks FLY is in the History Books! 2025 was a banner year for Red-Tailed Hawks Flight Lesson for Youth (FLY). For the first time, all the instructors were members of RTH. Our CFI Development Program is paying dividends. Further, as a class, the 2025 FLY Cadets exceeded exit exam expectations. We are proud of these cadets and look forward to supporting their development as student members of RTH. We are also pleased to have funding to provide flight-training scholarships for two of the top performing cadets – Hats off to Afsana and Heart!

RTH @ 2025 OBAP Annual Conference. What a great opportunity to show off the great things that are happening in the Pacific Northwest. What a great way to plant seeds for the One Thousand – One Hundred Campaign. If you stopped by the Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club booth, we say thank you. If you missed us, it is not too late to explore ways to get involved.

Now more than ever, RTH needs the support of our community. We are in need of $200,000 for the purchase and operation of two additional airplanes. In 2021, you helped us buy N13668 and N737KJ that are serving the RTH Aviation Academy well. Our operational needs now exceed the capacity of two airplanes.

The RTH Aviation Experience Brings STEM Joy to 50 Students. This annual 2-day experience, in June, introduced the world of aviation to Washington and Oregon students in grades 6-12. Friday was a virtual career panel and history lesson covering Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. Saturday was an in-person experience at Pearson Field, Vancouver, WA including rocketry, the fundamentals, discovery flights and exploration in Pearson Field Education Center. Many thanks to our partners Airways Science for Kids (ASK) and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).

The June Meeting Series @ Tacoma Narrows Airport. The Friday Zoom covered airport operations the accomplishments of South Korean astronaut Yi Soyeon and included multiple students reading their Continuing the Legacy in Aviation essays. We also highlighted RTH victory at Operation Skyhook. Saturday, we enjoyed the sun from the TIW Observation Deck, reviewed fundamentals of flight and discussed scholarship and summer job opportunities. RTH pilots capped the weekend with discovery flights for the students.

2024 Red-Tailed Hawks FLY Cadet Making Progress in the Air! Andrew Wilson is keeping his aviation dream alive and showing off his knowledge and skills in Walla Walla, WA. In July, he scored his initial solo and cross-country solo. Yesterday, he crushed the private pilot exam with a 95% earning himself another Red-Tailed Hawks scholarship. We look forward to honoring a new private pilot in a couple of weeks.

RTH Still Flying High

RTH Still Flying High. We have some catching up to do on Facebook. After an amazing May meeting with Washington State Patrol Aviation, we had a June meeting at Tacoma Narrows Airport and the RTH Aviation Experience at Pearson Field. Now, we are in the midst of Red-Tailed Hawks FLY.

In the meantime, several members have progressed through key milestones in their aviation journey. Vismay Patel earned his instrument rating. Dillon Stidwell accomplished his first solo. Andrew Wilson accomplished his first solo, and Noel Kisanga accomplished his first solo cross-country flight. More to come.

Red-Tailed Hawks Are Developing Future Aerospace Professionals. Akki, Gabby, Sam and Jordyn spent four months accomplishing the mission objectives of Artemis ROADS III.

They designed and built water filters, grew plants in multiple environments, designed and built a bottle rocket with a recovery system to protect fragile cargo and designed and built a rover to explore and map simulated lava tubes. Along the way, they learned about NASA’s challenges in preparing to live and work on the Moon.

On May 17th, team [Insert Text Here] demonstrated what they learned at Central Washington University along with dozens of other teams. The were recognized for the top lunar rover design.

RTH is a partner in the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways (NESSP). Middle school students rising to grades 6-8 are encouraged to register for RTH Aerospace Science Camp in Seattle, WA the first weekend in August. https://redtailedhawksflyingclub.org/rth-aerospace…/
