Another RTH Aviation Experience empowers over 50 youths in the Pacific Northwest this weekend. On Friday, the youth engaged with aerospace professionals online, and on Saturday, the youth had a dynamic in-person experience at Pearson Field (KVUO), Vancouver, WA. Many thanks to our partners Airway Science for Kids, Pacific Science Center, Urban Wings, NAACP, and Sam Bruce Chapter, TAI.
Harvey Hawks presented the Tuskegee Airmen's history. The following aerospace professionals shared their experiences and wisdom Joann Roberts, physicist/flight test engineer. Tracy Williams, airport executive. Rumeisa Maresha, commercial pilot. Kiki Tatah Mentan, aerospace/industrial engineer. Maya McDonald, aerospace engineer. Jerome Robinson, Jr., mathematician. And our pilot guest from Fly Compton, Nicholas Hardy.
At KVUO, middle and high school students learned about astronomy in a portable planetarium, and PacSci staff encouraged their participation in the next Artemis ROADS challenge. They then learned a little about aerodynamics and airplane design from Shanice Wormley before applying what they learned in flight with other RTH pilots. After the flight experience, the students headed over to the Pearson Field Education Center for some hands-on learning experiences.
