What time is it? It is time to polish the trophies. Operation Skyhook 2018 is in the books and the Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club carried home three awards. 1st Place Balloon Burst, 2nd Place Pylon Proficiency (Cat II), and 1st Place Formation Flying (with Lewis Lynch Chapter). Over 100 Black Pilots of America, Inc. members and family gathered at Grider Field, Pine Bluff, AR for a pilot proficiency competition and aviation comradeship. Thursday night started with a Pilot Seminar and was followed by three days of flying events: Flour Bomb Drop, Pylon Proficiency, Balloon Burst, Spot Landing, Formation Flying and Discovery Flights for youth. Hats off to the Bronze Eagles Flying Club of Texas for capturing the 1st Place Team trophy.
Mark your calendars for Memorial Weekend 2019, and join us for this annual BPA event. In 2020, we will celebrate the 50th Operation Skyhook, which began in 1971 under the leadership of Horace Noble and Jesse D. Hayes, Jr., MD. We hope to see you at KPBF.
