Black Pilots of America hosts Operation Skyhook during Memorial weekend. After a two-year pandemic delay, the 50th Operation Skyhook was held at Grider Field, AR! Since 1971, pilots have been getting together to promote safety and demonstrate their aviation skills. BPA also provides hundreds of discovering flights to youths throughout the holiday weekend.

We salute Jaylen Palmer who had a strong performance at his first Operation Skyhook. In addition, our president, Jesse Hayes, earned the highest individual honor of 2022 Top Gun.

It is time to polish the trophies. Operation Skyhook 2018 is in the books and the Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club carried home three awards. 1st Place Balloon Burst, 2nd Place Pylon Proficiency (Cat II), and 1st Place Formation Flying (with Lewis Lynch Chapter).

Over 100 Black Pilots of America, Inc. members and family gathered at Grider Field, Pine Bluff, AR for a pilot proficiency competition and aviation comradeship. Thursday night started with a Pilot Seminar and was followed by three days of flying events: Flour Bomb Drop, Pylon Proficiency, Balloon Burst, Spot Landing, Formation Flying and Discovery Flights for youth. Hats off to the Bronze Eagles Flying Club of Texas for capturing the 1st Place Team trophy.

Mark your calendars for Memorial Weekend 2019, and join us for this annual BPA event. In 2020, we will celebrate the 50th Operation Skyhook, which began in 1971 under the leadership of Horace Noble and Jesse D. Hayes, Jr., MD. We hope to see you at KPBF.
